The City is committed to assisting every business to succeed within the community. Business assistance is available though the Litchfield Economic Development Office. The City can provide information on business programs available as well as community information and available resources.
Business Development Programs
The City of Litchfield supports business growth with a variety of special incentive programs. An Enterprise Zone, Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District and Revolving Loan Fund are some options available. The City works in cooperation with the State of Illinois which also has a number of programs to offer. Please contact the Litchfield Economic Development Office for more information on available programs.
The Enterprise Zone Program is a state and local partnership. It emphasizes a creative coalition of state and local governments, business, labor and community groups to encourage economic growth in the Enterprise Zone. The Montgomery County Enterprise Zone is set aside to attract new industry and revitalize existing businesses by providing initiatives and financial incentives.
Effective March 1, 1990, the State of Illinois designated 15.0 square miles in Montgomery County as an Enterprise Zone for a term of 20 years. As of January 9 th , 2009 the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) extended the life of the Montgomery County Enterprise Zone for an additional 10 year term . The new termination date is February 28 th , 2020. Qualified new and existing businesses in the Zone are offered state and local tax incentives and other benefits to reduce operating and construction costs. Click here for guidelines.
